Cradled between the lush greeneries and snowy mountain peaks, Sikkim is one mysterious place of the North East India that people love to explore. You can hit Sikkim from many points and the itinerary can have many ways as well. However, 9 days and 8 nights journey is the best way to explore Sikkim along with a little taste from Darjeeling as well. It is more relaxing and it gives you more places to explore at a go too. Let us have a look at it, shall we?

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival to Siliguri or NJP and Heading to Gangtok
For the first day of the itinerary, we would be transferring you to Gangtok, the base of Sikkim. Our representative would be present at the New Jalpaiguri Station or Bagdogra Airport or Tenzing Norgay Bus station to pick you up. After that we would be driving for good 5 hours to reach Gangtok.

Situated at an altitude of 5,480 ft, Gangtok is the gateway of Sikkim. This town has a great shopping palette for women to hop on and some great monasteries as well. Thus, in the evening, you are free to roam around the city and visit mall road.
Day 2 - Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir
The next day would be reserved for Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir only. Almost 40 kilometres away from the town, we would be crossing Kyongnosla Sanctuary in the road. Blood Pheasants and the burst of Rhododendron are the two most common sights in this place.

Situated at an altitude of 12,000 ft, Tsomgo Lake is a beautiful oval shaped lake with framed landscapes around it. Also, this lake is home for many migratory birds as well. After spending some time, we would be heading for Baba Mandir.
Baba Mandir is a holy temple of late captain Harbhajan Singh who is hailed as the ‘Hero of Nathula’. It is said that his spirit’s presence is still felt by the soldiers on the border. Next we would be visiting Nathula Pass, the ultimate connection way of India and China. Also, it is also a part of the ancient silk route as well.

In the afternoon, we would be back to Gangtok. With a free evening, you can go for shopping again or you can explore the Gangtok city as well.
Day 3 - Transfer to Lachen and Site-Seeing
On the 3rd day, we would be leaving Gangtok quite early in the morning, just after having the breakfast. From Gangotok, it is another 4 and half hours drive to Lachen and we would be site-seeing on the way. Tashi Viewpoint, Kabi Lungstok, Naga Waterfalls, confluence of Lachen chu and Lachung Chu at Chungthang, Twin Waterfalls and Bhim Nala Waterfalls are some of the places we should have to visit, otherwise we miss the main ingredients of Lachen.

After having our morning occupied with the site-seeing, we would be stopping at Namok for the lunch. Namok would be the last stop where we would be stopping. With a full driving force after Namok and enjoying the view of Rhododendron by the side of the roads, it is possible that we would be reaching Lacheng in the early evening. For the 3rd day, Lachen is out night-stop.
Day 4 - Yumthang Site-Seeing and Back to Pavilion
After having a mountainous breakfast at Lachen, we would drive to Yumthang Valley, the home to amazing landscapes. We would be visiting the hot spring in Yumthang that is said to cure diseases. Surrounded by Lachen Chu, Yumthang valley is covered with colourful Primulae and Rhododendron flowers. And if you visit this place in winter, you would find a snow covered valley with no signs of flowers.

After spending some time, we would be heading for Gangtok which is 125 kilometres away from Yumthang. In the middle, we would stop for two site-seeing points – Singhik and Mangan to absorb the beauty of the Himalayan range.

The evening can be spent exploring Gangtok if you have not done yet or you can have a relaxing evening as well. We would spend the 4th night of our trip in Gangtok.
Day 5 - Gangtok Site-Seeing and Travelling to Pelling
Except for just roaming around and shopping, this time we would really have a site-seeing time in Gangtok. After breakfast, we would visit the handloom and handicraft institute of Gangtok, Tibetan Monastery and Stupa. This will occupy the whole morning.

After having lunch, we would be transferring to Pelling. A town situated at an altitude of 6,800 ft above the sea level. If you are lucky and get a clear day, you can witness Himalayan in its full glory. Many snow capped mountain peaks such as Pandim, Kumbhakarna, Rathong, Khangchendzonga, Zopuno, Shimbho, Narsing, Sinolchu can be seen from Pelling.

Also, the exotic botanical garden of Pelling is something you cannot miss. You can witness Khangchendzonga with Pelling valley from this garden as well. For the 5th day, we would stay overnight at Pelling.
Day 6 - Pelling Site-Seeing and Transfer to Darjeeling
After having an early breakfast, we would pack our bags and head for Darjeeling. But first, we would do the site-seeing of Pelling. Rimbi water falls and Rimbi Rock Garden would be our first stop. After that, we would visit Kechopalri Lake, one of the holiest lakes in Pelling. The water of this lake is so transparent that you cannot even find a leaf in there. Also, it is termed as the ‘Wish-granting-lake’.

After Kechopalri Lake, we would visit the Kechopalri Monastery and Kanchenjunga Water fall. The scenic beauty from this place is something to be cherished for the whole life.

Pemayangtse Monastery and Rabdantse ruins would be our last site-seeing stop in Pelling. After that we would head toward Darjeeling and stay at Darjeeling.
Day 7 - Darjeeling Site-Seeing
