What is Phuket Bird Park?
Phuket Bird Park is a landscaped bird garden in Chalong, in the south of Phuket island. It is home to more than 1,000 birds from over 100 species. You will see colourful macaws and parrots, hornbills, ostriches, emus and cranes. The grounds cover roughly 12 acres of shaded trails, walk-through aviaries and small waterfalls.
What can you do at the park?
- Walk through the aviaries and see the birds up close.
- Watch a live bird show where trained macaws, hornbills, eagles and owls perform.
- Hand-feed the parrots in the interactive zones.
- Stop for photos along the flat, shaded garden paths.
A full loop of the park takes about two to three hours at an easy pace.
When are the bird shows?
There are usually three shows a day, at about 10.30 am, 1.30 pm and 3.30 pm. Each show lasts 25 to 30 minutes. Times can shift a little, so we confirm them for your date.
Is it good for families and older visitors?
Yes. It is one of the easier outings in Phuket. The paths are mostly level and shaded, with only a few mild slopes, and there are benches along the route for rest stops. Young children usually love the parrots and the show.
Wear comfortable walking shoes. The gardens are green and quiet, with many places to sit and rest between the aviaries and the show area.
Where is the park?
The park is in Chalong, in the south of the island, close to Big Buddha and Wat Chalong. It is a 20 to 30 minute drive from the main town.
