Overview
What is Aquaria Phuket?
Aquaria Phuket is the largest aquarium in Thailand. It is home to around 6,000 marine animals and sits on the lower B1 floor of the Central Phuket Floresta mall. Most visitors spend one and a half to two hours inside. Allow about two and a half hours if you want to catch the live shows. It is open every day from 10.30 am to 7 pm, and last entry is at 6 pm.
What can you see at Aquaria Phuket?
The aquarium is set out as a walk through themed zones. They include the Mystic Forest, the River Caves, Coastal Haven, Station Aquarius with its touch pool, and the South China Sea, a saltwater tank that holds 3.5 million litres. The star attraction is a 40-metre underwater tunnel. Sharks and giant stingrays glide right over your head as you walk through it.
What shows and feedings are there?
Live shows run through the day and are part of your entry. There is a Mermaid Show, an Underwater Ballet, and feedings for otters, penguins, sharks and stingrays. A typical day starts with the Mermaid Show at 11 am, with a second one in the afternoon. The aquarium changes its schedule from time to time, so the current times are confirmed after booking. Hands-on stingray feeding is an extra paid experience inside.
Is Aquaria Phuket good for families?
Yes. The whole aquarium is indoors and fully air-conditioned, on one level with no steps. It is easy with a wheelchair or a stroller, and it suits small children and grandparents alike. That also makes it a good choice for a rainy day or a break from the sun.
Where can you eat?
The mall has a large food court with vegetarian dishes and some Indian-style choices. Su Va Na, an underwater-themed restaurant, is also on site. Food and drinks are not part of the ticket.
